AMM 251/A-Retail Buying

Developing purchase orders and practicing apparel buying processes.

Bridging the gap between accounting and apparel business, this course

was useful in monitoring what items and departments create profit or loss.

 

AMM 270/A-Visual Merchandising/Store Design

Understanding color theory, space, lighting and creating a schematic.

This course challenged us to incorporate interior design, planning and

merchandising while expressing creativity.
 

AMM 357-Apparel Importing & Exporting

HTS codes, logistics and exploring political-legal, cultural and financial issues.

This course will be most important in a budget or planning role especially in dealing with contractors overseas,

working with the knowledge of HTS codes could save or waste money.

 

AMM 360/A-Textile Specification Buying

Practices in specification buying of texile, trim and findings. Lab testing

of materials using industry standards. An important course to expose

the safety in chemicals and materials used in clothing and quality.

Skills learned in this area would be important to a buyer, quality

assurance and even the designer.

 

AMM 381/L-Apparel Production

Cut order planning, quality/costing, sourcing and introduction to use of

production equipment. This course mixed engineering with apparel

for products most often being built on an assembly line, it is important

we understand the efficiencies of product development.

 

AMM 457-Dynamics of the Global Apparel Complex

Observing patterns of business at a global level which

involve:economic, technological, competitive and

market dynamics. In a succesful business, it is important

to know current events in running and planning.

 

APPAREL PRODUCTION OPTION

CORE:

 

AMM 414/A-Apparel Product Development

Developing AM2 line by analyzing target market data,

sewing samples, using 3D pattern making, quality

controland technical packages. This put ourselves in

a work environment positions where we had to learn to

coexist and work toward the same common goal of

creating something and selling it to the bookstore.

ACC 207/A-Financial Accounting

Profit & loss, Intuit Workbooks, Excel. Standard skills needed in running a business from payrol to company metrics

 

MHR450-Leadership

Simulating workplace leadership experiences. This course taught me to articulate myself in conversation, interviews, meetings and communicate among peers/co-workers.

FASHION DESIGN MGMT:

 

ART 155-Digital Design

Photoshop, InDesign. This course would definately give me an edge in a marketing or graphic design role.

 

MHR 321-Creativity & Entrepreneurship

Exploring techniques to facilitate the creative process, designing innovation with the potential for commercialization. This class helped encourage my brain to always think outside of the box in creating, communicating, problem solving and more.
